Companhia tem sido parceira das comunidades indígenas pataxós no evento desde a retomada das festividades, há mais de 10 anos. O festival acontece na região da Costa do Descobrimento (BA)
Amanhã (01) acontece mais uma edição do Aragwaksã, o principal festival do Povo Pataxó e um dos momentos mais importantes para a valorização da cultura e tradição das comunidades. O evento, que será aberto ao público neste dia 1º de agosto, ocorrerá na Aldeia Reserva da Jaqueira, em Porto Seguro (BA), reunindo cerca de 800 indígenas Pataxós e de diversas etnias do Brasil. A Veracel, indústria de celulose localizada na região, mantém relacionamento com 34 aldeias indígenas e será novamente uma apoiadora do Festival, reforçando seu compromisso com as comunidades indígenas locais.
“O Aragwaksã representa para nós a resistência do nosso povo e o fortalecimento cultural das nossas tradições. É um momento de unificar nossas forças e nossa espiritualidade, celebrando a vida. O Aragwaksã, que significa Lugar Sagrado de Conquista, tem essa representatividade para nós”, destaca Syratã Pataxó, cacique da Reserva Pataxó da Jaqueira e presidente do Conselho de Caciques de Santa Cruz de Cabrália.
O evento inclui rituais, danças, músicas e outros aspectos culturais que reforçam os laços comunitários e a preservação das tradições ancestrais, reunindo anciãos, jovens e lideranças de diversas comunidades.
A Aldeia Reserva da Jaqueira possui 827 hectares de área protegida e abriga quase 40 famílias. A comunidade também desenvolve o Etnoturismo Sustentável com base na proteção do meio ambiente e da cultura indígena, gerenciado pelo Instituto Pataxó de Etnoturismo.

The event, which will be open to the public this August 1st, will take place at Aldeia Reserva da Jaqueira, in Porto Seguro (BA), bringing together around 800 Pataxó indigenous people and different ethnicities from Brazil. Veracel, a cellulose industry located in the region, maintains relationships with 34 indigenous villages and will once again be a supporter of the Festival, reinforcing its commitment to local indigenous communities.
“Aragwaksã represents for us the resistance of our people and the cultural strengthening of our traditions. It is a time to unify our strengths and our spirituality, celebrating life. Aragwaksã, which means Sacred Place of Conquest, has this representation for us”, highlights Syratã Pataxó, chief of the Pataxó da Jaqueira Reserve and president of the Council of Chiefs of Santa Cruz de Cabrália.
The event includes rituals, dances, music and other cultural aspects that reinforce community ties and the preservation of ancestral traditions, bringing together elders, young people and leaders from different communities.
Aldeia Reserva da Jaqueira has 827 hectares of protected area and is home to almost 40 families. The community also develops Sustainable Ethnotourism based on the protection of the environment and indigenous culture, managed by the Pataxó Institute of Ethnotourism.
Veracel, which completed 33 years of operation in Southern Bahia this July, has supported Aragwaksã since it was taken over by the community. This year, support is being provided via incentive laws. The company has also supported the Pataxó Indigenous Games for 15 years and has dedicated efforts to strengthening education in indigenous communities, with investments in infrastructure and donations of school materials. In 2024 alone, Veracel donated school kits to 5,400 public school students and teachers from indigenous communities in the region.
